The World of 8 Billion Video Contest is an annual competition organized by Population Connection, Where they are inviting middle and high school students globally to create a one-minute video exploring solutions to key global issues linked to population growth to win up to $1,200 in cash prizes. This contest not only raises awareness but also promotes sustainable solutions to these critical challenges.
How To Participate
- Go to https://submit.worldof8billion.org.
- Select the option: I am a Student “OR” I am a teacher.
- Select one of the three video topics (Child Wellbeing, Rainforest Ecosystems or Sanitation), each topic focusing on specific areas.
- Complete the entry form by providing video title, grade, your name (Lead Producer), school information, your parent Guardian name, city, and runtime. An official title screen template is available for easy use.
- Upload your original video that presents a solution to the chosen issue while connecting it to global population trends.
- Click on the “Complete Video Submission” button to complete your entry.
- Videos should be under 60 seconds, excluding a required 5-second title screen.
Note – Avoid using copyrighted material and plagiarism, and adhering to the format guidelines. No professional help is allowed beyond verbal guidance, though adults can assist as actors or camera operators.

Global Finalists
Videos that were chosen as global finalists for each topic will be awarded a $80 prize for high school and a $50 prize for middle school.
